Franchise Lawyer Deirdre Watson

DEIRDRE WATSON

I am an Auckland Lawyer with nearly 25 years experience.  I specialise in Commerical and Civil litigation, with a focus on Employment, Franchising, Contract, and Trusts and Estates.

I have acted for a variety of clients ranging from large corporates to private individuals. I understand the issues people face in dealing with disputes and litigation, and the need to work towards achieving a result that makes commercial common sense but yet achieves a just outcome.

I understand the need for outcomes in  disputes to be reached inexpensively and in a timely way.

Franchise Law

I have acted on behalf of a large number of both franchisors and franchisees. Having acted at different times on both sides of the franchising relationship, I am acutely aware and well understand the tensions and issues that can arise on both sides.

Franchising can give rise to a number of different types of disputes and issues, including breach notices, restraint of trade clauses, termination of franchise agreements, breaches of the Fair Trading Act by franchisors, injunctions and mediations of franchise disputes.

Land and Contract Law

I have also acted in actions for specific performance, caveat matters,  breach of the Fair Trading Act 1986, and breach of contract claims.

Employment Law

I act for both employees and employers in personal grievances, redundancies, investigations and breaches of employment contracts including restraint of trade and misuse of confidential information issues. Having acted at different times for both Employers and Employees, I consider I have an indepth understanding of and insight into the needs which arise on both sides.
